LUCID MOVEMENT

TRADITIONAL GERMAN KOLSCH-STYLE ALE
(ABV 4.4%)

Calling something a “kölsch” outside of the city of Köln (Cologne), Germany is viewed the same globally as calling a beverage “Champagne” outside of the namesake region in France.  Observant drinkers will note that we have taken steps to refer to this beer as a “Kölsch-style Ale”, at least on the cans we’ve packaged.  Nevertheless, techniques and ingredients imitate the original style as closely as regional availability would allow.  Using a yeast strain developed for re-creating the style, as well as 100% German malt and hop varieties, we landed on a great deal of finished product.  What really sets this style apart is the process of lagering, or cold storage, that takes place after fermentation.  It is overall a hybridized style, and displays a lightness found in so many lagers, alongside a delicate fruity crispiness and subtly present body found in lighter ales.  It lands in a highly drinkable spot on the scale of beer styles.
